Plans Against Free Speech Against Talk Radio/FOX News

10/20 - American Spectator
FCC-Church Conspiracy to Silence Talk Radio and Fox?

From the article:
Then came the interesting part, or, if you will, the part that sent a chill through my radio. Reverend Guess, on behalf of my own denomination -- without so much as a by-your-leave to the rank-and-file 1.2 million members -- made plain, in the name of the United Church of Christ that:

"As a participant, you will be asked to sign a petition to the Federal Communications Commission asking that it open a notice of inquiry into hate speech in the media. We will also urge the National Telecommunications and Information Agency to update its 1993 report, The Role of Telecommunications in Hate Crimes."

Read the key phrases again. "Open a notice of inquiry into hate speech in the media." Meaning, church members are being asked to sign on to an already-in-progress petition to the FCC that is opening the door to legal sanctions from the federal government on "hate speech in the media."

Targets?

"Together, we can express our concern about the frequency and tone of anti-immigrant remarks made by several TV and radio commentators, such as Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck, Michael Savage and Lou Dobbs."

Hate speech in the media is a growing problem that must be examined before it can be solved.

This is an article describing how individuals in government are using the United Church of Christ (the same denomination as Jeremiah Wright's church) to start a petition against those who commit "media violence". Here is one of the instances of "media violence" quoted on the petition...
Rush Limbaugh, claims this formal petition from American churches to the FCC, is responsible for beating up Mexican men.

The reason Rush is formally singled out in the petition itself as the only talk radio host so-named (and that without the tiniest bit of context) is that he allegedly made a remark on "March 27, 2006" in which he "called Mexican immigrants, regardless of legal status, 'a renegade, potential crime element that is unwilling to work.'" Two Mexican men, says the petition, were then robbed and beaten up.

Liberals see this opportunity with the bully pulpit to squash as much dissent as possible - by any means necessary, even through the vehicle of the church.

Sesame Street seeks Gaza access
Big Bird and his pals are trying hard to get access to the Hamas-ruled Gaza Strip to talk about peaceful conflict resolution and carry out some Muppet Diplomacy, Sesame Street announced on Wednesday.

"We know that it's an extremely volatile area, but we also feel that it's really important that we take these step forward to promote self esteem for Palestinians," said Gary Knell, president of the Sesame Workshop, the educational organisation behind the popular children's series.

COMMENT: Muppet diplomacy - I guess if the politicians can't get it done, why not?

Is This the Goal of the Obama Administration?

Detroit Free Press:  Cobo a scene of desperation

The economic tsunami washing over metro Detroit swept its casualties to the doors of Cobo Center on Wednesday in the form of 35,000 people so desperate for help with mortgage and utility bills that threats were made, fights broke out and people were nearly trampled.

...

City officials said a total of about 65,000 people over the past few days have gotten applications -- due next Wednesday -- for a share of $15.2 million in federal stimulus money to help people avoid foreclosure or quickly rebound from homelessness.

If this his not Obama's goal, what is he doing to prevent this result?

Taxing the Rich Today

CNN: 47% will pay no federal income tax
In 2009, roughly 47% of households, or 71 million, will not owe any federal income tax, according to estimates by the nonpartisan Tax Policy Center.

Some in that group will even get additional money from the government because they qualify for refundable tax breaks.
What we need to watch out for is the political advantages that will happen when the majority of people do not pay taxes. People are less likely to vote tax increases for themselves, so politicians will ensure that they pay no taxes. But that also means those same people will not make a lot of money to avoid paying taxes. That leads to their dependency on the government. This is not a situation that will be good for America.
